What we believe

We believe in helping everyone discern God’s call in their life. We believe that God loves each one of us and desires to lead us all into Christ’s life-giving paths. Therefore, we devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of being the hands and feet of Christ in this world. Our passion and goal is to equip believers for the work of the ministry, while helping people understand God’s love through scripture, faith, action, reason and experience.

I have been the secretary at Gender Road for ten years now, and have enjoyed meeting with both the old and new members. How time flies when you’re having fun!
Following a teaching career and a nine year stint at OSU, I found my place here at GRCC. Every day develops into something different, so no claims of boredom from me!
It is great to work with a group of people who appreciate what you do as well as accept my appreciation of them!

Special Projects & Support
I started as a part-time secretary at Gender Road once all my kids were in school full time. You know… earn a little spending money for this or that. That was in 2001. Job Share Partners have come and gone, pastors and staff have retired and been hired, and the office operates a bit differently now. BUT, I still enjoy what I do, even though that’s changed some too. As an IT professional, it’s been inevitable that many of my duties focus in that direction these days. Most importantly, whether I’m geeking out or not the people here accept me and have become my support, my cheerleaders, and family. God is good.

Christine Wears

Social Media Associate

Since I was little, I have enjoyed the art of writing and story-telling. Social media is an exciting new medium for me and I am enthusiastic about providing this service to the people who make up the heartbeat of Gender Road Christian Church!
I am a graduate of Columbus State Community College and currently working towards my Bachelor’s degree at Otterbein University. I volunteer my time with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society being a mentor and giving workshop presentations on Columbus State’s campus about applying for scholarships. On weekends, you might find me traveling, reading, binge watching Netflix, or spending time with my three wonderful children, family, or friends.

Becky Callender,

I began attending Gender Road on the first Sunday the new sanctuary was used for worship in 1998. Since then, I have been active in many areas of the church, especially music and finance. I am a semi-retired librarian, originally from Bellefontaine, Ohio. I was raised in the First Christian Church where my father was the pastor for thirty-two years. I have played the piano in church since I was a teenager, when I got my start playing with the Sunday School orchestra (that dates me!) I currently enjoy accompanying the GRCC Chancel Choir, Sisters in Song and playing for worship services.
